Toys for Tots Receives Donation

On December 13, 2011, the Marine Corp League's Toys for Tots received a donation from Kum & Go. Central Research employee Michael Johnson was there to accept the award on behalf of Toys for Tots. Check out this picture from the event. Central Research encourages employees to be involved in the surrounding community and makes time available for employees to volunteer during work hours. Other community activities include volunteering for Veterans Affairs Hospital events, helping in the Restore Joplin tornado relief effort, and Operation H.O.G. which is an employee created effort to send care packages to our U.S. military soldiers overseas.

U.S. Department of Treasury Announces 2011 Mentor-Protégé Team of the Year

Once a year, the U.S. Department of the Treasury's, Office of Small Business Programs, honors a "Mentor-Protégé Team of the Year". The 2011 award was given to our team of Central Research, Inc. and HMS TECHNOLOGIES, INC.. We met and excelled in our commitments to Treasury vendors and showed growth in our business development. We were commended by the U.S. Department of Treasury's Director of Office of Small Business Programs on our contribution and service to the Dept. of Treasury's Small Business Program.

Northwest Arkansas Ranked 8th Lowest Cost of Living

The Council for Community and Economic Research released the results of its third quarter Cost of Living Index Survey. Northwest Arkansas was ranked in the top 10 for lowest cost of living in the country. For more information read page 12 of the December 2011 Rogers-Lowell Chamber of Commerce Newsletter.

ABC's of Starting Your Veteran Owned Business

Dr. Johnny Dillard recently taught a class on the "ABCs of Starting Your Own Veteran Owned Business" at the local Chamber of Commerce job fair.
